APAP 2024

APAP 2024

APAP is always a really super busy time, but a time where I always look forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new friends.

I have been producing APAP showcases in one way or another for the past 20 years or more. The past 15 years, I have produced showcases at Yamaha Artist Services at 789 Fifth Avenue, Third Floor. This year because of a change in in Yamaha’s policy, the shows have been reduced. This year, the showcase has turned into more of a “Meet the Artist” where you will hear a bit of music, but you will also have time to meet and talk to the artists about their work and their community engagement. And of course as always, there is food and wine. I hope you can come on Saturday, January 13 between 11:00 am and 1:30pm to see the following artists: Soul Science Lab (with members of the Apollo Theater to talk about their collaboration) , Jade Solomon Curtis (with her dancers to talk about her new work “Keeper of Sadness”, James Brandon Lewis and Jamaaladeen Tacuma (to talk about their years long collaboration) and my new client, pianist Marcus Johnson who recently was noted streaming more than 120,000 streams in one month alone. In fact, the wine you will be enjoying this year is Marcus’ own Flo Wine.

And for the past 10 years, I have produced a showcase in the Regent Parlor of the Hilton Hotel. This year on Sunday, January 14 from 3:30-midnight, their will be stellar performances. The schedule is listed below.

I hope to see you there.
